Ein Steg für Fußgänger und Radfahrer soll die Donau östlich der Nibelungenbrücke überqueren. Die Gesamtlänge der Brücke und der Rampen beträgt 350 Meter, die freie Spannweite beträgt 260 Meter.

Entwurf
Die Brücke ist als öffentlicher, teilweise überdeckter Platz konzipiert. Der Entwurf sieht einen lang gestreckten Brückenkörper vor, der sich im Zentrum verdickt und asymmetrisch über einen Pylon abgespannt wird. In der Mitte des Stegs ist ein Z-förmiger Bügel vorgesehen, durch den eine Doppelstöckigkeit und Überdachung hergestellt wird.

Der Brückenschlag erfolgt in beide Richtungen: Als stimmungsvoller Standort für Märkte verlängert der Steg das Jahrmarktgelände auf das südliche Donauufer. Als Veranstaltungsort für Ausstellungen, Performances und Installationen greift der Donaupark mit seinen kulturellen Einrichtungen über auf das nördliche Donauufer.

A footbridge for pedestrians and cyclers is to extend across the Danube east of the Nibelungen Bridge. The entire length of the bridge and the ramps is 350 metres, the span is 260 metres.

Concept
The bridge is projected as an open, partly sheltered square. The concept provides for a stretched bridge structure, thickening in the centre and anchoring asymmetrically across a pylon. In the middle of the footbridge there is provided a Z-shaped shackle, creating a double-level structure and sheltering at the same time.

The bridge extends into both directions: as an atmospheric market site, the footbridge expands the fair area on to the southern bank of the Danube; and as a venue for the realization of exhibitions, performances and installations, the Danube Park with its cultural facilities extends across the northern bank of the Danube.
